At the recent 7th All Africa and SA National Kyokushin Karate Championships held in Cape Town the relationship between Karate South Africa and Kyokushin Karate South Africa was further strengthened.

The President of Karate South Africa Mr Sonny Pillay along with Vice President Mr Albert Marais attended the event, and met with the event host IKO Africa Chairman Shihan Kenny Uytenbogaardt, IKO South Africa Chairman Sensei Msokoli Ntombana and IKO International Secretary General Shihan Katsuhito Gorai.

The legitimacy of KSA as the only official Karate structure in South Africa, as per SASCOC regulation was emphasized and recognized by both parties once again. KSA is the direct representative for the World Karate Federation (WKF) which is the controlling body forKarate within the Olympic structures and with the international relations with WKF, JKF (Japanese Karate Federation) and IKO (International Karate Organisation Kyokushin) the South Africa relationship is a natural fit.

Both parties agreed to continue with the drive to ensure all Karateka in South Africa are registered athletes of KSA and the end results being card carrying members. This process will go a long way towards reaching the SASCOC guidelines on demarcated structures.
